Use cases
Control merchandising sections on product and collection pages
ePlugin ·
Match the product or collection context of a page to display relevant content. Visi offers product and collection conditions, with metafield conditions.
The merchant problem
Shared templates make stores easier to maintain, but a generic promotional section may not fit every product. Context rules help reuse a template while varying selected content.
How to do it with Visi
- Choose the product or collection template and select content.
- Add a rule for the relevant product ID, handle, tag, type or vendor, or collection ID/handle.
- Preview both matching and nonmatching pages using the same template.
Specific storefront use cases
Product-specific Shopify sections on a shared template
Show a product-page section for selected products using product IDs or handles. A care guide, size-information block or product-family announcement can remain on one shared template while appearing only for matching products.
Merchandising by product tag, type or vendor
Use the current product’s tags, type or vendor to show relevant existing content. product metafields provide additional conditions.
Collection-page merchandising and promotional banners
Match a collection ID or handle to show a collection-specific banner. Use collection metafields for more tailored seasonal messages or merchandising sections.
Questions merchants ask
How do I show a Shopify section only on one product page?
Use a product-ID or product-handle rule on the shared product template, then test the selected product and another product using that template.
Can I show a different banner on each Shopify collection?
Prepare the banners and attach collection-ID or handle conditions for their intended pages.
Should I use separate Shopify templates or visibility rules?
Use separate templates when the page structure genuinely differs. Use rules when the layout stays shared and only selected content should vary.
Example setup
Show a care-instructions section on products with a matching product tag. For a collection-specific campaign, use the collection page context instead of assuming every product inherits that collection condition.
