Shopify storefront rules

Visi FAQ — Shopify Section Rules & Scheduling

What does Visi do?

Visi controls the visibility of supported existing Shopify theme sections and blocks using display rules, schedules, or both. It does not build page layouts or generate content.

Do I need to edit theme code?

Rules are configured in the Theme Editor without manual code edits for supported content. Some repeated native blocks need a block-ID marker in their theme markup for reliable identification. Check the selected block before launching.

How do I set up Visi?

Install Visi, enable the Visi Widgets app embed in your theme, select a supported section or block in the Theme Editor, add rules and save. Preview the storefront and publish the theme separately if it is not live.

Can I schedule content and repeat campaigns?

One-time date/time windows are available on Free. Daily, weekly and monthly schedules, per-content excluded dates and store-wide blackout dates require Starter or above. Check the store timezone before setting the window.

What happens after a schedule ends?

Content with a single active schedule stops qualifying after its end time and is hidden by Visi while its rules remain enabled. Other schedule rules and all/any matching can change the result. This hides content; it does not delete the section or end a Shopify discount.

Can I target customers, markets or B2B buyers?

Login state, customer tags and Shopify localization conditions are available on Free. Customer metafields require Growth; B2B customer, company and company-location rules require Pro and relevant Shopify customer context.

Does Visi work with every theme and app block?

Compatibility depends on the theme’s section and block markup. Visi checks whether selected content can be located on the storefront. App blocks depend on the owning app’s markup, so universal compatibility is not guaranteed.

Are visibility rules an access-control system?

No. Visi shows and hides storefront elements, including through browser runtime. Do not use it to protect confidential pricing, private data or restricted products; use appropriate Shopify access controls.

Schedule Shopify sections for seasonal campaigns and flash sales

Can I schedule a Shopify announcement bar or homepage banner?

Yes. Select the announcement bar or homepage banner in Shopify’s Theme Editor, add a start and end time in Visi, and save the schedule.

How do I automatically remove a Shopify sale banner after a promotion?

Use a single enabled schedule with an end time to hide the banner after the promotion. Check other schedules, all/any matching and separately configured discount terms.

Do I need to duplicate my Shopify theme for every seasonal campaign?

Visibility changes to existing sections can be scheduled in the same theme with Visi.

Show Shopify content to customers with a specific tag

How do I show a Shopify section only to customers tagged VIP?

Add a customer-tag rule matching VIP to the chosen section. Show a loyalty announcement, early-access message or VIP welcome to customers carrying that tag.

What Shopify customer tags can I use for personalized content?

Use the tags you maintain in Shopify, such as VIP, wholesale, member or loyalty-tier tags. Match the relevant tag to a banner, welcome section or product announcement.

Can Visi show wholesale content using a customer tag?

Yes. Use a wholesale customer tag for tailored storefront messages, or company and company-location conditions for Shopify B2B announcements.

Show different Shopify sections by market or country

How do I show different Shopify banners in different countries?

Prepare separate banners and assign matching country conditions. Test the country selector and a nonmatching country before launch.

Can I schedule a promotion for one Shopify market?

Yes. Combine a Shopify market rule with a campaign start and end time. Schedule regional holiday banners or sale announcements for that market.

Does Visi automatically translate my Shopify storefront?

No. Language rules control visibility of content you already prepared. Use your translation workflow for the actual copy and verify the selected Shopify language context.

Control merchandising sections on product and collection pages

How do I show a Shopify section only on one product page?

Use a product-ID or product-handle rule on the shared product template, then test the selected product and another product using that template.

Can I show a different banner on each Shopify collection?

Prepare the banners and attach collection-ID or handle conditions for their intended pages.

Should I use separate Shopify templates or visibility rules?

Use separate templates when the page structure genuinely differs. Use rules when the layout stays shared and only selected content should vary.

Show storefront messages based on the Shopify cart

How can I show a Shopify banner only when cart total exceeds a value?

Attach a cart-total comparison to content and test below, at and above the threshold.

Can I show content when a specific product is in the Shopify cart?

Yes, with cart product-ID, handle or variant-ID conditions. Use cart membership rather than product-page conditions.

Can I show messages based on the number of items in the cart?

Yes. Use an item-count rule to display a message for a chosen cart size. Show a shopping reminder for a small cart or a relevant announcement when more items are added.
