Show different Shopify content to guests and logged-in customers

ePlugin ·

Use customer login-state conditions to show sections to either logged-in customers or guests. Visi offers this. Login state is different from visitor history, customer tags and B2B status.

The merchant problem

A sign-in invitation is unnecessary for a signed-in customer, while an account reminder may confuse guests. Conditional messaging lets one shared storefront handle both states.

How to do it with Visi

  1. Prepare the guest or account message in a section.
  2. Add a customer login-state rule for guest or logged-in and save.
  3. Test signed-in and logged-out states on the actual storefront.

Specific storefront use cases

Guest-only banners and sign-in reminders

Choose guest login state for a invitation section. Test after signing in to confirm it no longer qualifies.

Logged-in customer messages

Choose logged-in state for an account-related notice. Add a tag or other condition only if login alone is not specific enough.

Questions merchants ask

How do I hide a Shopify section from logged-out visitors?

Use a logged-in customer-state rule to display account announcements, a welcome-back section or shopping information for signed-in customers.

Can I show a Shopify login banner only to guests?

Yes, with a guest-state display rule for a existing banner.

Example setup

Show a guest-only sign-in reminder that links to the store’s account flow. A different section can welcome authenticated customers.
