Use cases

Show Shopify sections only on certain pages or URLs

ePlugin ·

Use page-type, URL-path or query-parameter conditions to show existing Shopify content in the intended page context. Visi offers these conditions.

The merchant problem

A global announcement may be useful on the homepage but distracting in the cart. A campaign link can need a particular supporting message without creating an entirely new page layout.

How to do it with Visi

  1. Confirm where the selected section exists, including global section groups and shared templates.
  2. Choose page type, URL path or a query-parameter condition.
  3. Test matching and nonmatching URLs, language prefixes and campaign links.

Specific storefront use cases

Homepage-only, product-page and cart-page announcements

Choose the relevant page-type condition for content present in that context. For product-specific or collection-specific merchandising, use the dedicated product/collection conditions instead of treating all pages of that type as equivalent.

URL-specific content and campaign query parameters

Use URL-path matching or a configured query parameter for existing campaign content. Test direct visits, links with and without the parameter and localized URLs.

Questions merchants ask

How do I show a Shopify section only on the homepage?

Apply a homepage page-type condition to content that already exists there.

Can I personalize Shopify content by UTM campaign link?

Visi supports query-parameter rules, which can match a configured parameter such as utm_campaign. Prepare content and test the actual links.

Example setup

Show an existing announcement on the homepage, or match a configured campaign parameter such as utm_campaign to a promotional message on a landing page.
